Small No. 10 - Abstract Original

A piece from my Smalls series.

My Small No. 10 is an intimate, gestural abstraction. My Small Series began as part of a daily practice during COVID to create one small piece a day - the light-hearted and free capture of a moment in time. The matted piece on paper measures 8 x 10 inches - a small piece that pulls viewers in.

Like my other abstract works, it is created using the same recycled magazine collage technique as my figurative pieces, but with a different emphasis. Rather than forming realistic imagery from paper, I use a small fragment of a recycled magazine page as a starting point—allowing a scrap or two of color or text to anchor the composition. From there, I create an abstract, minimalist image with paint and pencil.
