About Still

Still plays on two meanings: the still-life tradition I’m drawn to and the inner stillness we return to when we slow down.

Created during a season when I was searching for steadiness, this piece became an exploration of quiet beneath the noise. Dark colors at the top of the painting soften into whites and warm undertones which rise through the surface. Small glimpses of fruit are reminders of life, nourishment, and presence within.

Layered paper, paint, pencil, and scraped-back marks create a surface that feels weathered yet luminous. 

About My Abstracts

My abstract works are created using the same recycled magazine collage technique as my figurative pieces, but with a different emphasis. Rather than forming realistic imagery from paper, I use small fragments of recycled magazine pages as a starting point—allowing a scrap or two of color or text to anchor the composition. From there, I build an abstract image through layered paint and mixed media.

• Size: 16 x 20 inches, UNFRAMED. This artwork can be hung without a frame or can be framed once purchased. It is 1/2 inch deep and the edges are painted black.
• Mixed media: recycled magazine pages, acrylic paints
• Varnished for UV protection and longevity
