I see the world a little differently. Do you?

Unexpected. Layered. Complex. Surprisingly beautiful. Conversation-worthy.

WELCOME.

I’m Betsy McCormack, and I make art from tiny scraps of magazine pages.

At its core, my artwork is about transformation and reinvention—and it mirrors the way I move through life.

In my studio, I gather discarded bits of color, texture, print, and sometimes paint, thread, and found materials, and turn them into something alive, soulful, and unexpected.

I’ve always seen the world a little differently. I think too much, feel deeply, and notice things that most people don't, while entirely overlooking the things that most people do. I notice the hum beneath the silence, patterns inside the noise, the beauty hiding in what most people overlook. Maybe that’s why I’m drawn to using unexpected materials and creating butterflies, moths, and birds, creatures of transformation and flight.

The natural world steadies me, reminds me to breathe, and keeps me endlessly curious. Curiosity is a trait I value more than much of anything else.

In the end, my art and my life reflect each other: fragments of color, joy, loss, and wonder, gathered and reshaped into something whole, beautiful, and worth pausing for.

My studio

This is where the magic happens.

How could it not?

My darling tiny cedar-shingled cabin is truly a space of my own. It sits on the edge of 80 wooded acres in Northeast Michigan.

Just steps from the chatter of birds, wooded trails, and migrating butterflies, it’s the perfect place to find the stillness and inspiration that shape every collage.
